FEBRUARY 2025 ALBUM AND GIG NEWS
4th February 2024
Wow this year seems to be flying by and I can't believe we're already in February. There are loads of updates, especially on gigs, all of which are listed below in the Shows section (including more Lifesigns USA/Canada dates and the longest Dave & Sally UK tour to date). Really looking forward to seeing many of you on the road on both sides of The Atlantic in the coming months!
Thanks to those of you who voted for me in the Prog Magazine Reader's Poll Best Guitarist category. It was great to come in the top ten once again, despite no new solo or Lifesigns releases this past year. And one very satisfying statistic is that, for possibly the first time, Dave's beat Steve's 3-2 in the top ten! :)
NORTHERN ECHO LIST
I was very surprised and honoured to be included in a recent article in The Northern Echo, a major newspaper in my native town of Darlington and the North-East of England, on 'Seven of the famous Faces from and associated with Darlington'. It was great to be named alongside comic and artistic genius Jim Moir (aka Vic Reeves), whom I knew a little when I was still in Darlington. You can read the article at the link here.
ON THE EDGE (of what could be)
I've been getting on well with the mixes for track on my forthcoming 5th solo album, but there's still quite a bit to do as I've also been busy booking gigs for the Dave and Sally Summer UK tour, as well as practicing for the upcoming Colin Blunstone tour dates. However I can now tell you that 'On the Edge' is going to be released as a double album - both on cd and vinyl! With around 80 minutes of music I was agonising over what to leave out, but after a great chat with Rob Ayling from Gonzo Multimedia, he thought it would be great to include all the music, so hence the double release. I've now got a running order which I think works well and have almost finished compiling all the sleeve notes (no mean task with lyrics in Scottish and Irish Gaelic as well as English), so progress is being made and I'll be letting you know the release date very soon.
COMING UP
Lots of interesting things are coming up, including working on Dave Brons' 4th studio album mixes and recording parts for a new Celtish album. There will be more album / collaboration news very soon and some potentially very exciting tour dates in the autumn - more on this in due course!
***BTW LET ME KNOW IF YOU'D LIKE TO HOST EITHER A DAVE SOLO OR DAVE AND SALLY GIG (either side of the Atlantic), either at a venue or a house concert and we'll see if we can make it happen!

If you haven't already checked out my Patreon page, please have a look. It's the best way to keep informed of everything I'm involved with as well as being part of our great Patreon community.
